Don
McCathney Don has taught Physical Education with the Dearborn Public Schools since 1986.During that time he has been the Boys’ Head coach at Edsel Ford High School and the Girls’ Head coach at Dearborn High. He is an active member in the Michigan HighSchool Tennis Coaches Association, and been awarded the regional coach of the year on several occasions. Don has been an assistant tennis professional at the Dearborn Indoor Racquet Club, and Plum Hollow Country Club. He has been the head summer tennis professional at The Fairlane Club and is currently the Director of Tennis at the Detroit Golf Club (since 1995). He has been an active member of the USPTA since 1992. He has worked with all levels of juniors and adults, but enjoys working with junior players the most. Don’s fondest playing experience was in 1978 when he was a member of Henry Ford Community College tennis team which was a nationally ranked junior college team. The team was coached by the venerable Sherman Collins in his second to last season at Henry Ford. |
